William Ray (Head Coach) – wtray@wpi.edu
In his first year behind the bench at WPI, Coach Ray is excited to work with these WPI players and help build the program within the ACHA and NECHA divisions. Coach Ray has been playing hockey for 43 years and plays a variety of positions, mostly Defense and Goalie, so he brings a lot of experience to his team. His playing career stems from local programs as a youth to Lawrence Academy in High School and then 2 years for our WPI Engineers. He has coached in various programs from youth boys, to Assabet Valley Girls Hockey, Assabet Patriots Select program, Lincoln Sudbury HS and various Summer Tournament teams like the New England Freezers U16 & U18. Coach Ray is USA Hockey Level 4 Certified. Bill Graduated as an ME Design in 1989 and was a member of the SAE fraternity.
Mark Macaulay (Assistant Coach)
Coach Mark started skating on Bigney Pond in Brockton before spending his youth hockey days in Brockton Youth Hockey. While at Boston College High School, Mark played all four years and enjoyed his hockey experience in the Catholic Conference. Senior year culminated with a great playoff experience, making it to the South Sectional Semi-Finals in the States. After BC High, Mark continued playing hockey for the WPI team and was a Captain in his Junior and Senior years. While Mark has been playing men’s league at Northstar Youth Forum for decades, he’s also coached for the Northstar Selects, Starhawks Youth Hockey and Lady T-Hawks as well as had leadership positions in these programs. Coach Mark is USA Hockey Level 4 certified and has been involved with the WPI Hockey Alumni group for decades. He has helped organize the annual WPI Hockey Golf Tournament and WPI Alumni Hockey Game to raise funds for the undergrads to keep their experience top notch!
